Benefits & Rights

“The Benefits & Rights for Older Pennsylvanians” book is designed to be a single, comprehensive source of services that help older Pennsylvanians.

Our mission is based on prevention and protection.

Our services focusing on prevention include nutrition services, health and wellness programs, and services to help older Pennsylvanians to remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible. We also focus on protection for our older residents through our older adults protective services program, which targets all forms of elder abuse, neglect, abandonment and exploitation.

Included in this guidebook is important information on the Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE & PACENET), property tax and rent rebates, housing options, and health insurance. Resources for home and community-based services are also available along with those for recreation and leisure, and opportunities to give back as a volunteer. This book connects you with a front door for aging services in your local communities: the 52 Area Agencies on Aging. They are your local points of contact for your benefits and rights. New to this edition, you’ll find sections on Transitional Care programs that help ensure a successful discharge from a healthcare setting, information on the state’s Missing Endangered Person Advisory System (MEPAS) and an expanded section on veterans services.
